About The Capital Region Business Forum

The Annual Capital Region Business Forum (projected to be hosted in June 2026) is a longstanding regional tradition, bringing together executive leadership from the District of Columbia, the State of Maryland, and the Commonwealth of Virginia in a facilitated public forum focused on the region’s economic competitiveness and growth. After a four-year hiatus, now is the right moment to reestablish the Forum and demonstrate unified regional leadership, as the Capital Region must compete harder for talent, investment, and innovation.
On behalf of the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area, the Greater Washington Board of Trade, the Greater Washington Partnership, and the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, we are excited about this program and the insights it will provide.
Potomac Regional Alliance

The Potomac Regional Alliance is a year-round collaboration among four founding regional organizations (Greater Washington Board of Trade, Greater Washington Partnership, Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, and the Consortium of Universities) designed to strengthen a structure for long-term economic competitiveness, inclusive business-government cohesion, and resilience of the Greater Washington region across Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

The Potomac Regional Alliance exists to:
- Align regional leaders around shared economic priorities rather than fragmented jurisdictional or organizational agendas.
- Coordinate cross-sector action with credibility among business, government, academia, and nonprofits.
- Mobilize the region’s unique assets to compete nationally in talent, innovation, and economic growth.
- Build a durable mechanism for collaboration that persists beyond individual leaders and election cycles.
