PNC Develops New LEED-Certified Headquarters

The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc, which boasts the largest number of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) buildings of any other publicly traded company worldwide, is at it again. Early in the summer of 2007, PNC announced a joint venture with Vornado and Charles E. Smith to develop 350,000 square feet of LEED certified space for a new headquarters building at 17th and H streets NW in downtown Washington. Construction will begin in early 2008 and is expected to be finished in 2010.

PNC will need the new space as it continues to grow in this region. It recently acquired Mercantile Bankshares Corp. and as a result will have 140 branches in Greater Washington by mid-September 2007 when the conversion is completed.
