Action Call

Call your Senators and Delegates in Richmond and tell them:

“Pass a Transportation Funding Bill Now!"

Our message is simple:

There's too great a need, too much money on the table, too much consensus and too much at risk to fail due to politics now. We urge legislative leaders (in both parties and both houses) and the Governor to reach consensus on a package of transportation funds for Northern Virginia and the Commonwealth before the 2007 session ends this month.

We need a transportation funding package that includes:

  • New Money – Funds not diverted from other sources.
  • Dedicated – Funds specifically earmarked for transportation.
  • Sustainable – Funds that are ongoing and without a fixed termination date, i.e. not a one-time bond package, nor mechanisms with sunset provisions.
  • Minimum of $400 million per year for Northern Virginia – Funds controlled by and used exclusively in Northern Virginia.
  • Statewide Component – At least $1 billion of new, dedicated and sustainable funds for statewide construction, transit capital needs and maintenance.

Please call or email your legislators today and share this message as negotiations on this critical issue are rapidly taking place in Richmond. Don’t know who your legislators are or how to contact them? Click here.
