Keynote speaker, Stephen P. Hills, connected with the Gala's diverse audience, sharing lessons learned from launching and running a small business and how that inherently shaped his career and current role as President and General Manager of The Washington Post. Focusing on the three most important componants of every business - people, ideas and money - Hills emphasized that the success of growing a company is determining never to settle when hiring, keeping one's marketing message simple, having a unique selling proposition, and adopting a willingness to listen and to change to help customers get what they want. Hills also offered useful tips for recruitment, marketing, innovation and business management.
