We Asked. You Told Us. We Heard.

Five hundred members representing nearly 400 organizations responded to the member services survey last month, providing valuable insight and guidance for programs and new initiatives in 2007. Nearly all respondents (92%) would recommend the Board of Trade to a business associate, and 73% would be interested in a regional online job bank, which the Board of Trade will offer in early 2007.

More than 80% of members placed an importance on advocating business issues. And members identified traffic congestion as the most critical issue affecting the region’s business environment, reaffirming the Board of Trade’s focused efforts to advocate for transportation funding, including dedicated money for Metro.

Workforce issues such as retention and shortages were identified as the second most critical issues, so the Board of Trade will introduce programs in 2007 to help train and retain top-notch employees.

Though many said the tiered dues system serves their needs, members also suggested enhancing or simplifying the system. Some of these changes have already been implemented for 2007, such as reducing the number of tiers and providing more flexibility within the tiers.

Survey feedback also shows that networking and business development continue to be very important to a large majority of members. Growing our members’ business will remain a top priority in 2007, and the Board of Trade will continue to deliver marquee events that provide high-value networking opportunities.
