Priority Project Moves Forward! Board of Trade Celebrates ICC Groundbreaking.
Last week, Board of Trade execs joined MD Gov. Bob Ehrlich and state legislators at a groundbreaking ceremony for the InterCounty Connector (ICC). The occasion marks a major milestone for the Board of Trade and regional residents, after decades of advocacy for the project that will connect I-270 with the I-95 corridor. In a media statement, Board of Trade Chair Sam Schreiber (Wachovia) congratulated Gov. Ehrlich for his steadfast support. Read statement
Adrian Fenty Urges Board of Trade Directors to Help Him Fix DC Schools.
As a sign of our commitment to working together, the Board of Trade hosted Councilmember Adrian Fenty at yesterday's Board of Directors meeting. After his presumed win in November, Fenty's top priority will be fixing DC's broken schools. He mentioned specific ways in which Mayor Bloomberg has improved New York City public schools, and asked for the business community’s support and participation. The Board of Trade is working alongside his emerging team to assist in running the city like a business. View photos
For MD Voters: PAC Members Endorse Ehrlich, Franchot and Gansler.
In advance of the Nov. 7 election, the Board of Trade’s MD Political Action Committee announced its endorsement of Gov. Bob Ehrlich for re-election, citing his success in advancing the ICC and his advocacy for business interests. The PAC also endorsed Delegate Peter V. R. Franchot for Maryland Comptroller, noting his outreach to the business community and support of regional priorities, and Doug Gansler for Maryland Attorney General, due largely to his 8-year record of success as Montgomery County State’s Attorney. Also, Ike Leggett, the leading candidate for Montgomery County Executive, emphasized that he intends to work with the business community and regional leaders during a meeting with Board of Trade President Jim Dinegar on Monday. GWI Marketing Update
“How to Do Business with DHS” is Topic of Conference in London.
With the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) projected to receive a 21% increase in its IT budget next year, GWI will host conferences in London on Nov. 9 to educate UK firms on how to expand their U.S. presence by partnering with DHS contractors based in Greater Washington.
