Urgent Request: Please Write Your Senator on Metro Funding!

Legislation initiated by Rep. Tom Davis, which would provide $1.5 billion in federal funds for Metro, must move forward in the U.S. Senate this fall, or our community will be forced to start over in the U.S. House of Representatives next year. Please click here for details and a sample letter to send to your Senator this week. Historic Elections in MD and DC: Encourage Your Employees to Vote on Sept. 12.

The Democratic primary elections scheduled next Tuesday are critical to our region, with hundreds of elected positions open. Please encourage your employees who live in Maryland and DC to vote on Sept. 12. For info on candidates endorsed by the Board of Trade’s MD and DC PACs, click here.

Linda Cropp’s Leadership is Focus of DC Business Community Campaign.

In a collaborative effort, the Board of Trade’s DC PAC joined the DC Chamber of Commerce PAC and other local associations to support Linda Cropp in the mayoral race. VA Business Execs Urged to Meet with Legislators on Transportation Funding.  

During a special transportation funding session to be held in Richmond later this month, members are urged to meet with state legislators to express their views. Legislative committee meetings to consider specific proposals are scheduled Sept. 25 - 26; House and Senate floor action will follow.  To help raise the Board of Trade’s visibility, brief radio spots are running during September on WGMS (104.1FM) and Washington Post radio (107.7FM and 1500AM).  Members can hear these spots on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings between 5:50- 6:00am. In addition, a banner on www.WTOPnews.com will lead visitors this month to www.bot.org.
