Maryland Governor Addresses Board of Trade Directors.  Gov. Robert Ehrlich expressed his continued support for the state’s higher education system and its role in fostering research and development activity at a July 25 board of directors meeting at the University of Maryland. With the fall elections approaching, Ehrlich also recounted his record on business issues, including increased transportation investments and an anticipated groundbreaking on the InterCounty Connector. Helping Small Business Grow: New Guide to Area Resources Now Online. The Board of Trade’s Small Business Network gathered nearly 40 local small business experts today to share information and better leverage resources to assist area entrepreneurs.  A guide developed for small businesses and the organizations that serve them, the Greater Washington Guide to Small Business Resources, was released. The guide will be updated periodically. Questions?

Vincent Gray and Scott Bolden Endorsed by Board of Trade’s DC PAC. Last week, the DC Political Action Committee voted to endorse DC Councilmember Vincent Gray for DC Council Chair and A. Scott Bolden for the At-Large Council seat. PAC members noted Gray’s honest leadership style and prior government experience. Bolden, an attorney who has served as a DC Chamber of Commerce president, was cited for his ability to bring a fresh perspective to the Council on business issues. Earlier last month, the DC PAC endorsed Linda Cropp in her bid for mayor. More info

For VA Voters: State of Transportation Program is Aug 22. As the VA General Assembly’s special session approaches next month, keeping abreast of potential transportation developments is critical. In collaboration with the Loudoun County Chamber and the Northern VA Transportation Alliance, the Board of Trade invites members to a State of Transportation breakfast program from 8 to 10 a.m. on Aug. 22 in Ashburn, VA. The event features updates from: VA Transportation Secretary Pierce Homer; Senate Transportation Commission Chair, Sen.
