Maryland Governor Outlines Priorities for Board of Trade Directors. At a Board of Directors meeting on June 28, Gov. Martin O’Malley pledged his ongoing support for the InterCounty Connector and a mix of new revenues and budget cuts to address Maryland’s budget shortfall. Asking for the Board of Trade’s help, Gov. O’Malley emphasized the need to take a balanced approach to addressing the state’s deficit -- using program cuts and new revenues. To help guide advocacy efforts in Maryland, the Board of Trade is surveying its members, with questions on tax options and other fiscal issues. Watch for a summary of survey results. Board of Trade “Adopts” Francis Junior High School in DC. As part of DC Mayor Adrian Fenty’s effort to “buff and scrub” city schools over the summer, the Board of Trade has “adopted” Francis Junior High School, in the West End neighborhood. With the help of volunteers and support from Vornado Charles E. Smith, Board of Trade members will scrub and paint 15 classrooms so that students will experience a brighter, more inviting environment when they return this fall.
