Results of Annual Traffic Study Reinforce Board's Transportation Priorities.

No surprise to most commuters: Washington area traffic delays increased by nearly 3 hours annually from 2002 to 2003, according to a Texas Transportation Institute report released Monday. DC Advocacy Alert: Board of Trade Supports Medical Malpractice Reform Bill...

At a press conference last week, Jerry Moore (Venable LLP), Co-Chairman of the Board's DC Public Affairs Group, expressed the Board's support for medical malpractice reform legislation introduced by Mayor Anthony Williams that would cap jury awards for non-economic damages, limit attorney contingency fees and provide greater authority to regulate medical liability increases.

...And DC Business Coalition Opposes Budget Support Act.

Along with other members of the DC Business Coalition, the Board of Trade opposes the Budget Support Act, currently before the DC Council, that includes new, burdensome regulations and taxes. Business Pulse Survey: Area Execs Remain Optimistic About Economy.

Nearly nine out of ten business leaders remain enthusiastic about Greater Washington's economic outlook, according to the latest Business Pulse survey. Local execs were enthusiastic about the new baseball team's positive impact, but expressed a growing concern about rising gas prices and access to capital. The survey is conducted quarterly for the Washington Business Journal by Widmeyer Research & Polling in association with the Board of Trade.
