Advocacy Matters

Efforts to Obtain Metro Funding Move to Capitol Hill. Last week, a congressional committee marked up H.R. 401, the bill providing $1.5 billion in dedicated federal funds for Metro. The bill was reported out of committee with amendments, so action now moves to the full U.S. House of Representatives. To raise support for this critical legislation, the Board of Trade wrote a Letter to the Editor, published in Roll Call. To learn how you can help, contact Bob Grow.

Board of Trade Supports DC Voting Rights. Letters outlining the business community’s support for DC voting rights were sent recently to President Bush and leading members of Congress. The letters were developed following a strong recommendation by the Board of Trade’s DC Public Affairs Group and approval by the Executive Committee. In other DC news, the DC Political Action Committee voted not to endorse any candidates in the May 1st Special Election for Wards 4 and 7. Questions?
