Krumsiek (The Calvert Group), and Chair-Elect William Couper (Bank of America), the Board of Trade is poised for a busy and productive 2007. In addition to the Board of Trade’s popular annual events, look for new, high quality professional development programming in 2007 to help you and your staff. Watch also for new seminars and speakers series on key business trends. And in February, Capital Region Careers, a new online job board in conjunction with the DC Chamber of Commerce, will help members find qualified employees. Funding for Transportation Tops MD and VA Advocacy Agendas for 2007. The need to increase funds dedicated to transportation is the top issue on the Board of Trade’s detailed 2007 legislative agenda developed for both Maryland and Virginia. DC Police Chief Ramsey Receives 2006 Golden Links Award. Last month, the Board of Trade’s Directors presented the prestigious Golden Links Award for 2006 to retired DC Police Chief Charles H. Ramsey (left), who led the District’s Metropolitan Police Department from April 1998 through December 2006. The award recognized Chief Ramsey for his outstanding service to the region. Throughout his tenure, Chief Ramsey worked in partnership with the business community, and his innovative techniques were recognized nationally. Read more
2006 Media Coverage was Record-Breaker! The Board of Trade raised its media profile and averaged at least one mention in news media each day in 2006, including TV and radio coverage on advocacy efforts and prominent events. The Greater Washington Initiative also generated prominent coverage in articles about the region’s business environment in the New York Times, Financial Times, and the Los Angeles Times.
