Speaker Series

 

Speaker Salons are invite-only dinners targeted to C-level executives to introduce them to thought leaders and discuss the topics of the day. Four of these dinners will be held per year and seating is limited to 15-20 people. This series is in partnership with Leading Authorities Speakers Bureau. (Exclusive invite; members only)

Morning Star Speaker Series are targeted breakfast events for senior level executives in large and mid-sized companies. Recognizable regional leaders such as CEOs and authors on corporate business and management will share their thoughts with the audience and engage in a question and answer forum with attendees. Expected attendance at these events is 75. They are held four times annually.

John McDaniel Addresses Business Community

At the Board of Trade’s launch of the Morning Star Speaker Series on April 25, John P. McDaniel, Chairman of MedStar Health Foundation, offered his insights on leadership and the state of the region’s business community. More than 70 regional business executives gathered in the Ronald Reagan Building to hear about the challenge of recruiting and retaining an educated workforce of doctors and nurses, the importance of establishing centralized emergency care to further emergency preparedness and the state of the region’s economy and its effect on the giving community. Mr. McDaniel also shared his communication and leader­ship tactics and his passion for horse racing and Maryland’s horse heritage.

Volkswagen CEO Welcomed to Greater Washington.

Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, addressed members during a conversation with Board of Trade President and CEO Jim Dinegar. At his first major speaking event since Volkswagen’s relocation to Herndon, Virginia, Mr. Jacoby spoke about why Volkswagen chose Greater Washington as its headquarters, how he plans to hire more than 250 qualified employees in the region and what the brand strategy is for partnering with the DC United soccer team. The conversation also included a discussion about Volkswagen’s plan to open a plant in the United States, which will be formally announced this July.
